AUSTIN, Texas―The Chicano/Hispanic Law Students Association (CHLSA) at The University of Texas School of Law is hosting a Fajita Fiesta on Mon., Feb. 20.
The event is sponsored by Jenkens & Gilchrist, P.C., and all proceeds will benefit the establishment of the Dean Alemán Endowed Presidential Scholarship.
Chicken and beef fajita plates with rice, beans and a drink will sell for $6. Plates will be sold starting at 11 a.m. in front of the Law School's breezeway and also at the Co-op East patio.
"Dean Alemán has dedicated over 20 years of service to UT Law. While we're sad to see her leave the Law School, we are enthusiastic about creating a scholarship in her name," said CHLSA President Victor Villarreal. He said this is CHLSA's second time to create an Endowed Scholarship. In the past, Fajita Fiesta was dedicated to endowing the Janie Villarreal Endowed Presidential Scholarship in honor of Janie Villarreal, a second year law student and CHLSA member who died, he said, adding that every year more money was raised until it became endowed.
