Author Susan RoAne to speak on using networking to find jobs, build careers, March 19, 2008

UT Law’s Career Services Office will host author Susan RoAne, who will present the program “Nuances of Networking: Finding a Job and Building a Successful Career” on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. in The University of Texas Law School Auditorium.

For further information about the event and to RSVP, please contact Delilah Montemayor at or 512-232-9389.

RoAne’s books, including How to Work a Room and Networking: Beyond the Buzzword, have sold more than a million copies worldwide. With her characteristic sense of humor, proven strategies, and simple steps, RoAne will show how to identify and utilize a pre-existing network of contacts; acquire valuable referrals; create connections that result in lifelong friendships; and much more.

“If you ever walked into a room full of people for a networking event with recruiters, a party or a business gathering and felt uncomfortable, this program is the perfect antidote,” RoAne said. “You will leave with confidence and tools you need to meet, greet, connect, and converse successfully in any situation.”

“We’re fortunate to be able to bring a speaker of RoAne’s caliber to work with our students,” said David A. Montoya, Assistant Dean for Career Services at the UT School of Law. “Her networking presentations and workshops benefit attorneys and business people in law firms, companies, and public institutions throughout the country.”

RoAne received her master’s degree from San Francisco State University and her bachelor’s from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, where she was recently honored at “Authors Come Home.” A former teacher, Susan also lectures at major universities such as Yale, Wharton, University of Chicago, and NYU.
