The Law School will honor and celebrate the diversity of its students and alumni during its fourth biennial Excellence in Diversity Weekend Celebration on January 23–24, 2009.
The event is hosted by Dean Larry Sager; Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis,’79; and the students of the Asian Law Students Association, Chicano/Hispanic Law Students Association, Middle Eastern Law Students Association, South Asian Law Students Association, and the Thurgood Marshall Legal Society.
The celebration will begin January 23 with a welcome reception in the Law School’s Jamail Pavilion from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. It will continue January 24 at 9:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast in the Jamail Pavilion, followed by a State of the Law School Address by Dean Sager. Other Saturday events include a panel discussion entitled “Experiences Across the Decades”; a presentation on “Derivatives and the Financial Crisis” by Professor Henry T.C. Hu; and breakout sessions with student organizations. There will be cocktails, dinner, and dancing at the UT Alumni Center, Connally Ballroom, at 6:30 p.m. The Honorable Edward C. Prado, ’72, The U. S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, will be the keynote speaker at the dinner.
