Stephen Susman, ’65, gives $5 million to the University of Texas School of Law

Stephen Susman, member of the Class of 1965 and a founding partner at Susman Godfrey LLP, has made a gift of $5 million to the University of Texas School of Law. In honor of this gift and his past generosity, on May 13, 2010, the University of Texas System Board of Regents named a newly renovated space in the Law School’s Jesse Jones Building the Stephen D. Susman Academic Center. More information about the gift can be found on the Law School website.


UT Law Magazine now online

UT Law Magazine, the University of Texas School of Law’s alumni magazine, is now available online as well, at http://www.utexas.edu/law/magazine/. UT Law Online will publish alumni, student, and faculty news; articles from the print edition; plus special features such as blogs, a searchable archive, and special event announcements.


Capital Punishment Clinic heads back to U.S. Supreme Court for the fourth time in four years

The Supreme Court of the United States agreed on Monday, May 24, 2010, to resolve an important dispute among the lower federal courts over the reach of a federal civil rights statute in a DNA evidence case brought by Texas death row prisoner Hank Skinner. This marks the fourth time in as many years that the Supreme Court has granted plenary review in a case in which the Capital Punishment Clinic of the University of Texas School of Law is serving as counsel to a condemned prisoner. Recent UT Law graduate to become U.S. Supreme Court clerk

William Peterson, ’08, has accepted an appointment to serve as a clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. He will begin working for Thomas during the Court’s 2010–2011 term. To read more about William Peterson, please visit UT Law Online.
