Welcome
Welcome to the Intellectual Property Law Society web site!
Founded in 1991, the Intellectual Property Law Society at The University of Texas School of Law is dedicated to informing and assisting students interested in the practice of intellectual property law — the law of patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets.
We are planning several types of activities for the 2008-2009 academic year:
- Monthly meetings featuring IP law topics presented by guest attorneys. Free food for members!
- Hosting the Annual Intellectual Property Law Students and Attorneys Reception, which brings together UT law students and Austin-area IP lawyers.
- Short workshops on resumes and networking.
In addition, paid members will be able to:
- Submit their resumes to the Resume Directory, which will be distributed to prospective IP employers.
- Access the IP Firm Database, a listing of firms with IP practices. The Database currently contains 52 firms represented by 67 Texas offices and 110 offices overall. The Database includes:
- Contact information, including email address
- Submission preferences
- Firm size
- Years hiring
- Breakdown of copyright, trademark. and patent hiring needs
- For patent practices, the Database also includes technical backgrounds desired and bias towards litigation or prosecution.
