Participating in the IP Firm Survey is a great way to connect with University of Texas Law students interested in IP. We have about 40 members each year, with half being 1Ls. It only takes about 3 minutes to complete a submission, and the resulting listing allows mutually interested students and law firms to efficiently make direct contact with each other.
We envision 3 key advantages for participating firms:
- Raise awareness among students about your firm, particularly if you do not list in NALP or participate in On-Campus Interviews. IPLS typically has 40 paid members, about half 1Ls and the rest split between 2Ls and 3Ls. Thanks to this consolidated database, students will spend less time looking for your firm and more time researching it in depth, which can only be to your benefit.
- For patent practices, the ability to list preferred technical backgrounds.
- Clearly signal your current hiring needs. For example, you may have a trademark practice, but are not currently seeking summer clerks in the area. Thus, a student with a long term interest in trademarks can still flag your firm for follow up about other practices. Alternately, for patents, students will be able to see your preference for litigators or prosecutors.
