The Board

The Texas Law Fellowships board  of directors is composed of twenty-two student members, a faculty advisor, and a professional mentor.  The Board is elected every spring by the UT Law student body.  First year section representatives are selected in the fall.

The Board is responsible for organizing TLF activities throughout the year.  This includes planning events such as Fall Auction, the Excellence in Public Interest Awards, and our annual Spring Pledge Drive, as well as deciding how many fellowships we can fund and dispersing their salaries throughout the summer.

The Faculty Advisor and Professional Mentor

Our Faculty Advisor for the 2008-2009 year is professor David Rabban.  Our Faculty Advisor serves as a liaison between the student board and the law school administration, helping to promote TLF's mission at the Law School.  Professor Rabban has served as TLF's Faculty Advisor for many years, and has helped the student board through the initial growth phase of TLF to the present.

Attorney Bill Whitehurst of Whitehurst, Harkness, Ozman, & Archuleta has served as TLF's mentor since its founding in 1988.  In addition to providing valuable advice about networking in the legal community, Bill and his wife Stephanie continue to be TLF's  most active supporters.  Each Fall, the TLF board has a long-term planning retreat at the Whitehurst's historic farmhouse near Fredricksburg, Texas.  For the past several years, the Whitehurst's host the Excellence in Public Interest Awards at their home in Westlake Hills.  Their generosity has and continues to provide vital support to the success that Texas Law Fellowships enjoys.
