The Texas Journal of Women and the Law is pleased to announce the
availability of Volume 16 and the upcoming publication of V.17:1-2 and
V.18:1-2 (2008-2009).
Since the release of Volume 1 in 1990, the Journal has secured its place
at the forefront of contemporary legal issues through the publication of
articles, essays, notes, and reviews that enhance and maintain discourse
on gender concerns. To this end, the Journal aims to expand feminist legal
thought and inspire dialogue about legal, social, and political issues affecting
women, ultimately enhancing the relationship between theoretical and
practical perspectives of gender and law.
Volume 16 brought many new ideas to the legal community. Articles included:
“A Case Against the Federal Protection of Marriage Amendment” by Nancy
Kubasek and Christy M. Glass;
“Recognizing the Relationship Between Domestic Violence and Animal Abuse:
Recommendations for Change to the Texas Legislature" by Jennifer Robbins;
“The Meaning of ‘Life’: The Morning-After Pill, the Question of When Life Begins,
and Judicial Review” by Jason M. Horst; and
"The Family Violence Option in Texas: Why it is Failing to Aid Domestic Violence
Victims on Welfare and What to do about it" by Laurie Pompa.
Articles in Volume 17 will continue to present our subscribers with a legal
discourse that both challenges and compels.
