Description
This course introduces students to the body of rules that govern the admission of proof at trial. The course surveys many of the basic problems in evidence -- relevance, the hearsay rule and its exceptions, impeachment of witnesses, privileges, authentication, opinion testimony, expert witnesses, and scientific evidence. It also touches upon those constitutional provisions of greatest applicability to the law of evidence: the confrontation clause and the due process clause. We will study both the Federal and the Texas Rules of Evidence.
