Description
The course covers several "secondary" fields of intellectual property that in the United States are governed by state rather than federal law. Each of these fields regulates the control or free flow of information in a different social context. The fields include publicity rights, trade-secret law, and misappropriation doctrine. We will explore the relevant legal doctrines, the theoretical basis of each field, its normative assessment and the possibilities for its reform. No prior knowledge of intellectual property law is required.
