Description
Instructor: Owen L. Anderson, Eugene Kuntz Chair in Oil, Gas & Natural Resources.
CLASS MEETS JANUARY 19-MARCH 2.
Goals and Description: Oil and Gas contracts will consider oil and gas lease assignments, farmout agreements, operating agreements, gas contracts, and drilling contracts. Basic tax concepts (especially as relevant to certain types of oil and gas contracts) will be briefly covered. We will also cover oil and gas law issues that are unique to federal, Indian, and state lands.
Course Materials: The required book is the Forms Manual (5th Edit.) that accompanies the casebook: LOWE, ANDERSON, SMITH & PIERCE, CASES AND MATERIALS ON OIL AND GAS LAW (West 5th 2008). Students do not need to buy the casebook.
Prerequisite: None. However, students who have taken the basic oil and gas course will already have some familiarity with some of the most basic subject matter. Students who have not had the basic oil and gas course are encouraged to ask questions after class and see me for any additional tutoring that they believe would be helpful.
Assessment: Final exam.
