|| Test Date
This course is restricted to upper division students only.
You must have at least 43 credit hours to register.
This seminar examines the regulation of financial markets--those in securities, banking, currencies and financial commodities--using as a point of departure an inquiry into the markets themselves and the classes of participants in those markets, and concentrating significantly on the different powers and styles of regulation and their impact on behavior. Non-U S markets are addressed with a comparative analysis, using U S regulation as a base. Particular attention is devoted to significant revisions to financial markets regulation emanating from the financial crisis of 2007-2008, including the Dodd-Frank Act, enacted in 2010.
