LBJ School Community Service Day in the Works WHAT: Students, faculty, and staff of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs will head out into the community for a morning of volunteering with several local Austin agencies. Following years of tradition, LBJ School volunteers will be teaming up with the following not-for-profit agencies:
WHEN: Saturday, November 18, 2000, from 8 a.m. 1 p.m. WHERE: The group will meet for breakfast from 8 - 8:40 a.m. at Rosewood Park (located at 2300 Rosewood Ave, in the pavilion by Doris Miller Auditorium). From 9 a.m.-12 p.m. volunteers will be onsite at agency locations. From 12:20 1 p.m. volunteers will regroup for lunch at Rosewood Park. BACKGROUND: The LBJ School Community Service Day is a biannual event that brings LBJ students, staff, and faculty together outside the classroom to give back to the greater Austin community through volunteerism. This Saturday the volunteers will be doing everything from roadside clean-up with the Nature Conservancy to helping the Austin Area Community Food Bank organize its pantry in preparation for its Thanksgiving Day activities. The goal for Saturday is to have 50 LBJ School community members participate in this activity.
