The Texas Institute for Public Problem Solving (TIPPS) will host a statewide conference on August 16-18 dealing with domestic violence.

TIPPS is a regional community policing institute based at the LBJ School. The conference is open to the public and admission is free. Advance registration is encouraged.

The event, "Bridging the Gap, Law Enforcement and Prosecution of Domestic Violence," will be at the Omni South Hotel, I-35 at Ben White Boulevard. It is designed for law enforcement personnel, victim advocates, prosecutors, and anyone interested in how law enforcement and prosecutors can work together more effectively. The program will include sessions on restorative justice, multicultural issues affecting domestic violence, issues unique to domestic violence in rural areas, prosecution tools, and successful team strategies for dealing with domestic violence.

The conference is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
