The School is seeking students interested in earning extra money by serving as part-time student workers during the spring semester. Jobs paying $13.70 an hour are distributed throughout School, at either 10 hours a week ($2,684 for the semester) or $15 hours a week ($4,026 for the semester). A limited number of positions are available to work in the business office, the Office of Student Affairs and Programs, Information Technology and Media Services, and the Dean's Office. The work involves performing general administrative tasks (filing, collecting and distributing daily mail, etc) and/or technical tasks (writing, IT related duties, etc). Positions will begin January 16, 2007 through May 31, 2007. Interested students should email a resume and interest letter to LBJdeansoffice@austin.utexas.edu.
Remember that all LBJ School students, faculty, staff, and families are invited to celebrate the holiday season Monday, December 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the 10th Floor Atrium of the LBJ Library and Museum. Two visiting Mexican scholars will comment on the trends within Mexico's nonprofit sector on Thursday, December 7 at 12:15 p.m. in the Student Lounge. The presentation is part of a two week Research Symposium on Mexican Civil Society hosted by the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service. The Center for Health and Social Policy will convene a panel of policy makers and analysts, including several from the Legislature, to discuss which health policy issues can be expected in the upcoming Texas Legislature in January, and prospects for changes.
The University is "wrapping up" its Twelfth Annual Orange Santa Program of gifts for UT employees and students with special needs who may not otherwise have a holiday. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys or gifts in original packaging, gift certificates, and wrapping supplies in collection boxes stationed in the Dean's Office and the Student Lounge by December 8. Please keep in mind that this is not an inclusive list and does not necessarily follow UT final exams dates. You should check with instructors for final papers and take-home exam schedules.
