County Clerk to Demonstrate New Balloting System Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir (LBJ Class of 1981) will demonstrate eSlate, Travis Countys new electronic voting system at a special luncheon of the CenTex Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA). The event, hosted by the Brown Bag Speakers Committee, will take place at the LBJ School Student Lounge on October 25 at noon. According to DeBeauvoir, the countys new electronic voting system has been used in select previous elections on a trial basis and has been used countywide since October 19 for early voting. In May, the transition will be complete as the county adopts the new system for both early voting and Election Day balloting. DeBeauvoir was first elected County Clerk in 1987 and is known for her work in promoting voter turnout, improving elections, protecting public records, and making public information more accessible. In late August, the LBJ School Alumni Association presented her with its Distinguished Public Service Award. According to LBJ School Graduate Adviser Kenneth Matwiczak, who is helping to coordinate the event, free lunch will be provided by ASPA. The Brown Bag Speakers Series is organized by LBJ School students. October 21, 2002 |
