LBJ School’s Gary Chapman to Deliver
State of the City Address

EVENT: Austin State of the City Address, delivered by Gary Chapman, lecturer, LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin.

WHEN: 6:00- 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005.

WHERE: Austin Woman's Club, 708 San Antonio St.

COST: Admission to the event, which includes a reception, dinner buffet and silent auction, is $35.

BACKGROUND: Every January the League of Women Voters of the Austin Area hosts a special public event where a distinguished Austin leader from government, business or academia delivers a report on the "State of the City.” This year the League has invited Gary Chapman of the LBJ School of Public Affairs.

Chapman is nationally and internationally recognized as an outstanding educator, speaker, writer and "futurist" who focuses on the social implications and trends of new developments in information technologies. At the LBJ School he teaches classes on Internet policy, telecommunications policy, and science and technology policy, and directs the 21st Century Project, which is dedicated to expanding public participation in the development of new goals for science and technology policy.

Proceeds from the event benefit the League's tax-exempt Education Fund. Reservations should be made by Friday, January 21, by calling the League's office at 451-6710 and sending a check to the LWV Education Fund, 1011 West 31st St., Austin, TX 78705.

Free parking at the Austin Women's Club is available behind the building at 8th & Nueces Streets.
