Accommodations
General Information
Our two primary conference hotels are landmark Austin
properties located in the heart of the downtown business and entertainment
district. Both hotels are historic, and are among Austin’s finest
accommodation. The two hotels—The Driskill and the Stephen F.
Austin Intercontinental—are located one block apart. We are pleased
to have secured highly discounted conference rates for these hotels
during a prime tourist period.
We also have an overflow hotel that is located closer
to the University: the Doubletree Club. Please note that this hotel
is not located within easy walking distance from the other two hotels
or from local restaurants.
There will be transportation arranged from all of the
hotels to the conference venue.
More detail about each hotel is located below. Please
make your hotel reservations early, as we have a limited block of rooms
available at each hotel, and this is an extremely busy time period in
Austin. You should contact the hotel directly and say that you are with
the “LBJ School Prison Conference.”
Please note that if you are planning to arrive before
Sunday or stay through Wednesday night, you should try to stay at the
Driskill Hotel, because the block there is also reserved for the days
on either end of the conference. If you are only planning to stay for
two or three nights, you might wish to stay at the Stephen F. Austin
Intercontinental Hotel.
Transportation to any of these hotels from the airport
can be arranged either by taxi or by Super Shuttle service (approximately
$10).
