Character Above All book published

A book based on last year's lecture series on the character of the U.S. presidency was released in February and will, in turn, be the subject of an upcoming PBS national television special that will be broadcast on May 29.

The book, Character Above All: Ten Presidents from FDR to George Bush, is edited by Robert A. Wilson of the Dallas-based firm Wilson Communications and published by Simon & Schuster.

Ten original essays by some of the most distinguished writers on the modern presidency are included in the volume, which Publishers Weekly calls "perceptive and entertaining." The essays are based on the spring 1995 lecture series given at the LBJ School and televised on C-Span.

The PBS special will be hosted by Jim Lehrer.
