Ken Apfel testifies before
Texas House of Representatives

LBJ School Professor Kenneth S. Apfel (LBJ Class of 1978) testified about the Texas Rehabilitation Commission before the Texas House of Representatives Special Committee on Human Resources in February. Apfel, who holds the Sid Richardson Chair in Public Affairs, is a former Social Security Administration commissioner.

During his testimony Apfel discussed the Social Security disability program. He said that today 11 million people across the nation receive disability benefits, almost one million of them children. Apfel also discussed stewardship, work incentives, the adjudication process, resources, the Texas process, and other issues.
