July conference to examine fiscal policy The fiscal policy issues that are likely to confront the 78th Texas Legislature when it convenes in Austin in 2003 will be examined at a public conference on July 12. The event, sponsored by the LBJ School and the Texas Lyceum, will take place on the UT Austin campus at a site to be determined later. The Texas Lyceum is an organization that works to identify and develop the next generation of top leadership in the state by bringing together diverse opinions and expertise to focus on national and state issues. Alumni include current and former legislators and other leaders interested in public affairs. Membership is limited to 96 people under the age of 45 who exhibit leadership in any sector (business, medicine, education, politics, etc.); they serve two three-year terms.
