He also served for three years on the Joint Staff and spent two years teaching in the history department of the U.S. Military Academy. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, Meigs completed a Ph.D. in history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has lectured at the Royal Uniformed Services Institute, the U.S. Army and National War Colleges, the Russian Armys Combined Arms Academy, the Belfer Center at Harvard Universitys Kennedy School, and the Imperial Defense College and the Joint Staff College in the United Kingdom. Monty Meigs is a soldier, a diplomat, and a scholar, said LBJ School Dean Ed Dorn. His national security experience and academic credentials make him an exceptional asset to UT and the Austin community.
