A time for work and a time for fun

Balancing their time between work and play, students organized a range of activities throughout the year that gave them opportunities to work and learn outside the classroom, contribute to the community, and bond with other LBJ School community members.

At the beginning of the year, the students shopped for classes, met faculty members, and learned about the School. As they settled in for the year, individual student groups organized special community service projects, sponsored international movies and potluck dinners, organized discussion groups, worked to promote diversity, and looked to the future by attending internship and career fairs. For stress relief, they organized picnics, happy hour get-togethers, and “recess”—a competitive game of “capture the flag” that drew students from the computer lab every Thursday to the lawn by the LBJ Library fountain.
