Brazil decorates Robert Wilson |

The Brazilian government recently honored LBJ School Professor Robert H. Wilson with the most prestigious award the country can bestow upon a foreign citizen. On April 29, at a reception held at the LBJ Library and Museum, Wilson was admitted into the National Order of the Southern Cross. The Order includes the ranks of Grand Collar, Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, and Knight. Wilson was accepted into the Order at the rank of Commander, which is awarded to such individuals as permanent chargé de affairs, counselors of embassies or legations, members of parliaments or courts of justice, university professors, and others of equivalent rank. Concession of the National Order of the Southern Cross is done by presidential decree. Wilson, who is the Mike Hogg Professor in Urban Policy as well as the director of UT Austins Brazil Center and Urban Issues Program, has done extensive work dealing with public policy in Brazil. |
