Description: This course will consider broad policy and political considerations regarding the U.S. Latino community. Often referred to as the ?sleeping giant,? we will explore the current state of the Hispanic community ? both nationally and in key states such as Texas ? and develop a greater understanding of the dynamics at work as the Latino community begins to exert its considerable influence. We?ll look at policy areas that include politics, education, immigration, culture and voting, among others. And we'll talk to policy-makers and other experts about the current state of Latino policy issues.
