Welcome!

In 2000, there were approximately 4.6 million uninsured Texans. As part of a two-year Policy Research Project, graduate students and faculty at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs have been working to address this critical public policy issue by conducting strategic research and in-depth analysis on available policy options.

2001-2002 Academic Year:

During the 2001-2002 academic year, we developed background papers to inform policy-makers, decision-makers, and stakeholders regarding public and private options to increase health care coverage and access for low- to moderate-income, uninsured Texans. On March 22, 2002, we held a conference titled Investing in Texas: Financing Health Coverage Expansion.

2000-2001 Academic Year:

During the 2000-2001 academic year, we developed a series of briefing papers on both public and private insurance. In March 2001, we brought together a variety of stakeholders in Texas to explore realistic options for expanding coverage. By providing a forum for open discourse, this conference generated substantive recommendations for future policy.
