Academic Year 2000-2001

During the 2000-2001 academic year, we developed a series of briefing papers on possible private and public initiatives for reducing the number of uninsured Texans. In March 2001, we brought together a variety of stakeholders in Texas to explore realistic options for expanding coverage. By providing a forum for open discourse, this conference generated substantive recommendations for future policy.



2000-2001 Report Now Available

This publication includes both the proceedings and background papers on the issues discussed at the March 2001 confererence held at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. Topics covered include: high-risk pool and small group insurance, Medicaid and CHIP expansion, simplification and outreach, and the special problems facing Hispanic Texans.
