The 2012 International Conference on Aging in the Americas (ICAA) conference will take place during National Hispanic Heritage Month and is the fifth installment of a conference series that was first established in 2001. The USC Edward R. Roybal Institute on Aging at the USC School of Social Work is honored to host the first gathering in California.

According to the 2012 U.S. Census, the estimated Hispanic population in America numbers close to 50.5 million—representing 16.3% of the nation's total population and making people of Hispanic origin the nation's largest ethnic/racial minority. The 2012 International Conference on Aging in the Americas will provide the opportunity for scholars involved in the study of Latino health and aging to disseminate and discuss current research regarding a large and growing segment of the U.S. population that has long been overlooked.
