Description:Evan Smith, founder and CEO of the Texas Tribune, would like to invite all students to attend an open portion of his "Conversations on Leadership" course each week where he will interview elected officials, policymakers and members of the media. This week, Wednesday, April 10 at 2 pm in SRH 3.316/350, Evan Smith will welcome former Governor of Texas Mark White. The open portion of the class will run for the first 90 minutes, featuring 45 minutes of interview, followed by a Q&A with the audience. Please no tweeting or blogging, as these sessions are designed to be informative, insightful off the record conversations.

White served as secretary of state until 1977, when he resigned to run for state attorney general, where he served until 1983. White declined to seek a second term as state attorney general, but chose to seek the governorship. White sought to improve education, transportation, water resources, law enforcement, and taxes to lure new industry to Texas.
