Description:Sandra E. Black currently holds the Rapoport Chair in Economics at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her B.A. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1991 and her Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University in 1997. Prior to her position at UT Austin, she was a Professor of Economics at UCLA and worked as a Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Her primary research focus is on the effect of family background and childhood experiences on the long-run outcomes of children. She has published in most of the major general interest journals and all of the major journals in the fields of labor and education. Black currently serves as the Editor of the Journal of Human Resources and is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and IZA.
