Researching Careers

This section discusses several avenues for learning about specific career opportunities that will help you use your skill set and fulfill your career goals.

Career Guides

The Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs has prepared a guide to a range of policy fields. Although APSIA’s guide focuses on international opportunities, it is also a useful guide for many domestic careers as well.

Career Connections

This database is maintained by LBJ’s Career Resources staff, and contains job postings in diverse fields and geographical locations. Career Connections includes many listing from employers who are directly recruiting LBJ Students.

Other Job Databases

The following sites provide a broad range of job opportunities across many policy fields. These sites are excellent tools for exploring careers in your field and learning what skills you’ll need to achieve your professional goals. Keep in mind that you will be competing with hundreds, if not thousands, of applicants for many of these jobs, so networking remains as important as ever in finding your first job as a graduate.
