State Politics and Policy
With a host of resources, including research tools and state politics and policy experts, the Center is a vital source of information for policymakers in Texas. The Center studies, conducts analysis and facilitates the success of Texas state policy and politics through a broad range of state-specific programs. Led by former state legislator Sherri Greenberg, who served 10 years in the Texas House of Representatives, the initiative includes coursework related to the state legislature as well as the Center's internship program.

Who's Right? Who's Left? What's Next? Texas Politics and Policy Beyond 2008
The 2008 fall forum was devoted to the future of Texas politics and government in the aftermath of the 2008 elections. Following an historic election with far-reaching implications for the State of Texas, the forum analyzed the election results to shed light on future elections and the upcoming 2009 legislative session. Speakers included Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, Houston Mayor Bill White, Texas Senator John Carona, Texas Rep. Scott Hochberg, Texas Rep. Jerry Madden, Texas Senator Florence Shapiro, Texas Rep. Sylvester Turner, and Texas Senator Kirk Watson.

Research for the Legislature
The Center provides analysis on state policy issues for the Texas legislature. Under the supervision of Center faculty and staff, students participate in research projects to assist state legislators with bill drafting and analysis, data collections, and policy briefings.

Government Affairs Internship Program
Students gain practical experience through internships with state legislative offices, state agencies, and non-profit and private government affairs operations. In addition to their work assignments, students meet regularly with Professor Greenberg to evaluate their progress, share experiences, and analyze the effectiveness of strategies to influence policy outcomes. Guest speakers also provide additional perspectives.
CLASS 
Advised by Professor Sherri Greenberg, Citizens for Local and State Service (CLASS) is a student-run organization at the LBJ School of Public Affairs dedicated to bringing more attention to the importance of involvement in our local communities. By moving beyond the walls of the classroom, CLASS creates hands-on opportunities to involve and familiarize students with the machinery of state and local government.
