J.J. "Jake" Pickle Fellowship
The purpose of these awards, named for Austin’s
former Congressman J. J. Pickle, is to enable qualified students to spend
their internships working in offices within the executive, legislative,
or judicial branches of the federal government which are unable to offer
a stipend of $1,000 a month.
Award: Multiple awards, amount to be determined
Application Requirements:
- A personal statement describing the work to be undertaken over the summer and its relevance to the student’s professional goals;
- A letter from the federal office confirming the relevance of the
project an pledging supervision and office support, and stating that the
office cannot pay the student any more than $1,000 a month;
- One letter of recommendation from an LBJ School faculty member;
- A current resume;
- An unofficial graduate transcript.
