The Steven Spinner Workforce Development Fellowship
This fund is established to commemorate Steven
Spinner, a 1984 graduate of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs
who died on September 27, 1995. Steve’s career was devoted to developing
a comprehensive system for employment and training and to fostering public-private
partnerships in the area of workforce development.
Income from this endowment shall be used to fund the required 12-week
summer internship for a student interested in workforce development policy.
The student must engage in a project which should be mutually beneficial
to the organization and to the student’s academic professional goals.
The internship assumes culmination in a professional report.
Award: $2,500 (one award)
Required Qualifications:
- Be a student in good standing at the LBJ School, having maintained a 3.0 grade point average without incompletes;
- Be capable of excellent policy analysis;
- Display superior interpersonal skills; and
- Demonstrated an ability to work independently.
Application Requirements:
- A proposal describing the research to be undertaken over the summer, along with a timetable for completion;
- One letter of recommendation from an LBJ School faculty member;
- A current resume;
- An unofficial graduate transcript
