Former Governor of Colorado and Alumnus Bill Owens to Deliver 2012 Convocation Address
Special Edition of The Baines Report honoring the 40-year anniversary of the first LBJ School graduating class of 1972
AUSTIN, Texas, April 19, 2011 -- Former Governor of Colorado and LBJ School alumnus Bill Owens will deliver the convocation address on Saturday, May 19, to the 2012 graduating class of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. The 2012 graduating class marks the 40th anniversary of the inaugural class which graduated in 1972.
Owens served two terms as Governor of Colorado from 1999 to 2007 and was re-elected by the largest margin in Colorado history. During his two terms, Owens worked to improve transportation infrastructure, reform education and lower taxes. The National Review called him “America’s best governor” in a cover story in 2002.
