Through research, public events and faculty expertise, the LBJ School of Public Affairs, it's faculty and student researchers, continue to inform public dialogue on some of the most pressing issues of the 83rd Texas State Legislature.
Faculty Experts
The 83rd Texas State Legislature is in full swing and while the state budget, education finance and redistricting are set to be the most pressing issues that the legislature will tackle, myriad of other issues are likely to come before the session. Faculty experts from the LBJ School of Public Affairs are available to discuss policy and political issues from a variety of perspectives.

In preparation for the 83rd Texas Legislative Session, LBJ School students compiled an in-depth overview of the major challenges facing state policymakers. The overview covers the following issues: budget, criminal justice, education, elections, healthcare, immigration, payday lending, the sunset advisory commission and water and energy.
LBJ School Students Pen Blogs on the Most Pressing Issues Confronting State Lawmakers in the Newest Edition of The Baines Report, a student-led blog focusing on policy

In the first edition of the 2013 Baines Report, student writers focus on Texas's 83rd Legislature. This issue features a PolicyBriefs podcast featuring Sherri Greenberg, Director of the Center for Politics and Governance and former Texas State Representative, and host Gene Vela. Additionally, this edition features blogs on education finance, the Medicaid debate and school accountability and reform. The Baines Report is the opinion section of the LBJ Journal, a student-run academic policy journal.
