Student Researchers Release 2013 Legislative Preview Covering Major Topics of the 83rd Texas State Legislature

In preparation for the 83rd Texas Legislative Session, LBJ School students have compiled an in-depth preview of the major challenges facing state policymakers. The preview covers the following issues: budget, criminal justice, education, elections, healthcare, immigration, payday lending, the sunset advisory commission and water and energy.

Under the direction of LBJ School Lecturer Sherri Greeneberg, former Texas State Representative and director of the School's Center for Politics and Governance, the students compiled this 2013 Legislative Preview as part of a year-long policy research project focused on the inner-workings of the Texas Legislature, Texas state agencies, interest groups and lobbyists.

During the Spring 2013 semester, students participating in this research project will also serve as interns with members of the Texas Legislature and committees as well as with advocacy groups involved with the Texas Legislature.
