Inaugural Alumni Speaker Series a Success
This spring, the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and the LBJ School Alumni Association cosponsored a new lunchtime speaker series. Senior Washington Correspondent Provides Convocation Address
CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer delivered a heartfelt and moving commencement address to the LBJ School of Public Affairs Class of 2007 on Saturday, May 19, in the Bates Recital Hall. Schieffer, himself a native Texan, challenged the graduates to not be afraid to tackle the greatest public issues of the 21st century. (Read More)

LBJ Students Providing Resources for Innovative Social Entrepreneurship
One thing that sets Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs students and alumni apart from the crowd is the amazing amount that they care about the world around them. The Great Society Fund (GSF) is one way in which the school makes the world a better place. Created by the graduating class of 2005, the GSF provides resources and support for innovative social entrepreneurship projects started by LBJ students and alumni. (Read More)

LBJ Students Host Gender Conference
LBJ students are blazing trails by bringing a diverse group of students, faculty from different disciplines, researchers, government and non-governmental officials together to discuss gender issues. The Conference on Gender, Globalization, and Governance will be held on April 12-13, 2007. It is being organized by students from the LBJ School, the Center for Women's and Gender Studies, the College of Communications, the Department of Sociology and the School of Law. (Read More)

21st Century Policy Makers at LBJ School
In 2006 students from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs organized the inaugural 21st Century Policy Makers Conference to share their research with other public affairs students throughout the nation. LBJ students are continuing their effort to promote student research and student-organized conferences by participating in the Second Annual 21st Century Policy Makers Conference, which will be hosted by the Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Arkansas. LBJ Alums Working to Make Austin Park a Reality
There are many things to value in a public affairs education, not the least of which are the skills it provides in terms of community involvement and accomplishment. Sharla Megilligan and Mehul Patel are among the distinguished alumni from the class of 2004 who are making a profound difference in the lives of children and coffee growers in the Dominican Republic. $50K Social Innovation Competition to Encourage Social Entrepreneurship Launched by RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service at LBJ School
In an effort to spark the energy, idealism, and spirit of social entrepreneurship for the public good, the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service at the LBJ School of Public Affairs has announced it will award $50,000 to a student who develops a compelling and innovative new initiative that will contribute to the public good. Increasing Diversity of Public Affairs Professionals Through Inman Scholars Program
As part of its effort to attract a diverse community of students to graduate study in public affairs, the LBJ School launched a new program in the summer of 2006 for a selected group of undergraduate students (generally in their junior year) from Texas colleges and universities. (Read More)
