Center for Politics and Governance Co-Hosts Day-Long Event of Central Texas Election Debates
On February 11, 2010, the LBJ School's Center for Politics and Governance will co-host a day-long event featuring debates from elections across Central Texas. The event is hosted in conjunction with Community Impact Newspaper, KUT Radio, KXAN, the League of Women Voters, Citizens for Local and State Service (CLASS) and the Texas Tribune.
The doors open at 9:30 a.m., with the first debate beginning at 10:30 between Republican candidates for the Texas House District 20, followed at 10:35 a.m. by the Texas House District 47 Republicans. The day's schedule continues with the State Board of Education District 5 Democrats at 11:05 a.m., followed by the State Board of Education District 5 Republicans at 11:50 a.m. There will be a break for lunch at 12:15 p.m. followed by the Democratic debate for Lieutenant Governor at 1 p.m. The event will end at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets are limited to University of Texas at Austin students, faculty, and staff and can be picked up at Sid Richardson Hall 3.380. However, the debates will be posted as a podcast after the event at http://texasvote2010.com/.
