CPG Partners with Las Comadres Para Las Americas to Present 2008-09 Texas Public Policy & Candidate Training Program (TPP-ACT)

AUSTIN, Texas-- Aug. 20, 2008-- The Center for Politics and Governance is proud to announce its partnership with Las Comadres Para Las Americas to present the 2008-09 Texas Public Policy & Candidate Program (TPP-ACT).

The TPP-ACT is a part of the Las Comadres Para Las Americas Legacy Programs Institute.  The state-level program is designed to encourage Latina leaders in the business, nonprofit, and government communities to participate in the political process by being informed on issues, candidates, and voting.  The program consists of rigorous and diverse sessions led by some of the state’s foremost leaders in Texas and national politics and government.  Successful participants in the TPP-ACT complete the program with skills needed to consider serving the public by seeking elected or appointed office.

TPP-ACT participants will convene at the LBJ School from across the state to learn from distinguished presenters such as former Texas representative Dr. Lauro Cruz; Las Comadres President and CEO Dr. Nora Comstock; CPG Director Hon. Veronica Stidvent;  UT-Austin professor of government  Dr. Jason Casellas and many more.

Las Comadres is a nationally known Latina organization empowering women to be actively engaged in the growing Latino/Hispanic communities through on line and face to face networks.

Las Comadres mission is connecting and empowering Latinas everywhere through community building/networking, culture, learning and technology.
