DC Summer Speaker Series Welcomes Mike Naeve
Please join DC area alumni next Tuesday June 23rd at 6:15pm for the next DC Summer Speaker Series. These roundtable discussions offer the LBJ School Community and its friends access to a variety of DC policy makers.
Mike Naeve, the speaker of the day, heads the Global Energy Practice Group for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates and is head of the Washington, D.C. office. Prior to joining Skadden, Mr.
Naeve was a Member of the Electricity Advisory Board to the Secretary of Energy from 2002 to 2008, was appointed by President Reagan as a Commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission where he served from 1985-1988, and worked as Legislative Director for Senator Lloyd Bentsen (D-TX) from 1978 to 1980.
In his legal work, Mr. Naeve is involved in energy policy and regulatory matters. He also has worked with a variety of utilities on innovative electric transmission cases, wholesale rate proceedings and retail access experiments. He has testified before Congress on various matters ranging from electric industry restructuring to antitrust issues in the energy sector.
Mr. Naeve consistently has been singled out by Chambers and Partners as its highest-rated U.S. energy lawyer. In 2006, Mr. Naeve received “The Chambers Award for Excellence” as the nation’s leading lawyer in his field. He also was selected for inclusion in the Legal 500 2008, and he has been repeatedly listed in The Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Naeve completed his studies at the LBJ School in 1972, has a J.D. degree from George Washington
University (1984), and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UT-Austin (1970).
