The School's Office of Conferences and Training provides
continuing education opportunities through various seminars, institutes,
and conferences, many of which are planned and conducted in collaboration
with governmental agencies and professional organizations of public officials.
The Office also assists faculty in the development and organization of
conferences, seminars, and public policy forums related to research and
academic interests as well as issues of concern to members of the public.
Educational events cover areas such as governmental accounting, public
finance, public purchasing, management and leadership development, ethics
in government, orientations for newly elected and appointed state and
local public officials, and other areas of public policy interest. Biennially,
the School cosponsors the Pre-Session Legislative Conference with the
Texas State Legislature.
In addition, the Office of Conferences & Training
is available to assist in all phases of conference planning and implementation
This includes program planning; conference brochure design & production;
registration (including collection of fees); production of nametags, participant
lists, conference materials; arranging travel & accommodations for
speakers; arranging for meeting space, sleeping room, refreshments, and
entertainment; and publication of conference proceedings.
Some courses that are offered on an ongoing basis are:
