Training and Professional Development Staff from Texas State Agencies and Universities are invited to attend…

When: Friday, October 24, 2014
Time: 8:45 AM – 4:00 PM
Where: Commons Learning Complex
J.J. Pickle Research Campus
Austin, Texas

The 19th annual Training Expo is just a few weeks away.   The Governor’s Center for Management Development is pleased to host the Expo in collaboration with the SACC Training and Development Committee.

Over 350 people registered for last year’s event, representing over 50 agencies and universities.   Expo provides a forum for sharing ideas, resources and learning that can help training and development professionals better serve their organizations.  You'll also find networking opportunities where you can meet colleagues and other professionals to discuss training and development issues and challenges.

Our Opening Keynote will be Bob Scott, Dealing with Difficult People or When You Feel as Though You Have Fallen Into A Reality TV Show.

Reality television has slithered into our culture. Whether it's our fascination with the "Bachelor" or "Mob Wives," reality TV dominates our lexicon, our water-cooler gossip, the way we dress and even the way we deal with conflict. The purpose of this session is to teach you how to utilize your emotional intelligence in dealing with negative people and how to intercept a situation that could go bad ... without going to jail.

Recently retired, Bob has over 20 years of experience in organizational development and training with the University of Texas Medical Branch - Galveston.  He also has worked for institutions of higher education in Florida and New Mexico. He believes that when it comes to communication strategies, there are no magic bullets. There is no single message that is going to connect with everyone.  So where do we begin? Looking at how we dean with conflict resolution is a start.

New to retirement, Bob finally has time to decide what he wants to be when he grows up and is going to enjoy every minute of it!

This year's breakout sessions include:

Technical Tools for Trainers

Using VideoScribe to Create Whiteboard Animations

Stress Relief for Trainers

Story Telling: Bridging the Gap between Classroom and Life

What? Who's the New Trainer?

How to Reach Those Who Don't Want to Be Reached: Designing Successful Outreach Training

Our Closing Keynote will be a Panel Discussion,  Social Media and Learning.
