The RGK Center hosts lectures, panel discussions and special events inviting internationally-known experts to speak at the LBJ School on topics related to our mission.
The Moody Foundation of Galveston awarded a $100,000 grant to the RGK Center to establish the Frances Moody Newman Distinguished Lecture Series. The series, launched in spring of 2008 promotes philanthropy, community service and volunteerism by inviting philanthropic leaders to the University of Texas at Austin to discuss how their personal values, beliefs, and experiences shape the mission and method of their giving.
Hosted by RGK Center Professor Joshua Busby, the Global Civil Society Speaker Series launched in spring 2007 to showcase individuals with practical experience and timely research in the world of international NGOs, philanthropy and advocacy.

February 1, 2007 - "The New Aging Enterprise" - a two-and a half day colloquium sponsored by the AARP Offices of Academic Affairs and Volunteer Alliances. Participants examined dossiers of organizations whose work has truly influenced the nature and direction of the entire aging enterprise. Dialogue focused on aging as an opportunity for growth and prosperity and considered how nonprofit and business enterprises can flourish as the population grows older
November 27-December 8, 2006 - The Mexican Civil Society Research Symposium - The RGK Center hosted a group of Mexican Scholars for a two-week symposium on Civil Society in Mexico. The symposium brought together nine Mexican scholars from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) and El Colegio Mexiquense who presented their research on trends in the Mexican nonprofit sector. Participants included Senior Faculty members from the two institutions, the Director for Mexiquense's Civil Society Studies program, and PhD students in Public Administration. (Learn More)
