Upcoming events related to the Portfolio in Nonprofit Studies are posted here periodically. Such events include speakers, conferences, professional development workshops, and networking opportunities.
This year's Capstone experience is all about you – providing skills development focused on taking you past nonprofit concepts and case studies to insights and applications that will help you build personal success. Spend a day with your colleagues – beginning with outdoor team skills and ending in a dynamic fireside chat with RGK Center Director Peter Frumkin.
Purpose: Coursework about nonprofit issues is a strong starting point to being prepared for the nonprofit sector. Internships take you the next step towards being confident and effective. But when you are out there on your own you must rely not only on your academic skills but your own personal talents for getting things done and making a difference.
Employers and alumni have identified specific skills that are invaluable in public service, such as how to run an effective meeting, teamwork, understanding how to listen and be heard, conflict management, and organizing for success. This capstone program provides RGK Center portfolio students with a series of experiences that enhance skills relevant to future work in policy, practice and management
The elimination-style competition pares down ten teams to two that will compete in a super nonprofit smartypants winner-takes-all death match. The champion team receives a grand prize of $400 that will go to their charity of choice!
