The Digital Divide in Context

The emergence of a divide between those who have access to resources and those who do not is neither sudden nor recent. However, the gap between the haves and have-nots is magnified by technology. Lack of access blocks both personal and community development, leaving lower-income and historically neglected communities out in the cold. These brief articles look at significant issues we believe should frame the public debate on the digital divide and our research efforts to bridge the gap.
