Course Overview

Topics for these policy seminars have included environmental and natural resources policy, health-service delivery policy, social welfare policy, transportation policy, science and technology policy, international affairs, national security, urban and regional growth policy, and political campaigns.

Section Description

There are significant differences in election principles used among democracies worldwide. Some differences effectively determine who generally controls the outcome in the nation's elections. This seminar reviews some of the major differences (e.g. in citizenship, voting rights, court enforcement of election laws, application of the "one person, one vote" standard, etc.) from the principles commonly accepted in this country. Students will be asked to research and write a paper on election practices and principles in the democratic nation of their choice.
