Description: Writing II (November 4 - December 2, 2008). In this follow-up to Writing I, students will further advance individual writing skills suitable for a professional career in global policy. They will complete a set of professional writing tasks to practice the style and composition used in memoranda, advocacy papers, reports, press releases, and opinion columns. Assignments will be designed for different audience such as (1) the executive branch (including advice for the new president), (2) international organizations, and (3) NGOs. Students will review and critique historical examples of these kinds of documents as well as generate new pieces appropriate for the contemporary context.
