Description: Taught with Dr. John M. Sharp, Dave P. Carlton Centennial Professor in Geology, Department of Geological Sciences, Jackson School of Geosciences.
Class Goals:
1. Review and discuss systems of groundwater management
2. Review Texas and other sets of water laws
3. Review of basic hydrogeological constraints
4. Review economics and valuation of groundwater
5. Discuss related processes
6. Transboundary aquifer management.
7. Review processes within GMAs and between GMAs to achieve public goals
Grading: This is essentially a graduate-level seminar course. Students are expected to participate in class discussions and read the literature. There will be 2 essays and/or one small group project will be assigned. Students will present their findings in class. Attendance on at least one of the field trips is expected.
Grading Policy: Students who register for this course will receive grades on a scale without + and – option. Grades can include: A, B, C, etc., following UT/Austin Graduate School rules.
