On September 24, 2012, the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin hosted Measuring Up, a public forum on high-stakes testing and accountability in Texas public education. The forum took place in the Lady Bird Johnson Auditorium and was attended by hundreds of parents, students, teachers, principals, superintendents, education advocates, legislators, business and civic leaders, and other important stakeholders from across Texas. The conversation was also facilitated online via the Twitter hashtag #LBJMU for all those unable to attend in-person.
The forum featured an outstanding panel of experts: Dr. Angela Valenzuela, Dr. Linda McNeil, Commissioner Tom Pauken, Representative Jimmie Don Aycock, Mr. Todd Williams, and Dr. David Anthony. The evening's discussion was moderated by Dr. Carolyn Heinrich, director of the LBJ School's Center for Health and Social Policy.
